NRA COURSES
First Steps (6 hours)
$150 An introductory course to provide students with the knowledge, skill, and attitude to own and use a newly purchased firearm. This course is designed to teach students about a specific pistol model. This is a live fire course. Basic Pistol (8 hours) $175 Teaches students the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. The course will teach students about various action types, pistol operation and parts, gun safety, shooting fundamentals, and shooting activities. This course will also prepare the students for participation in other NRA courses. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate. This is a live fire course. Home Firearm Safety (4 hours) $125 This course teaches safe firearm handling and is conducted only in the classroom, no live fire. Students are taught NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling, firearm parts, how to unload certain action types (pistol, rifle, and shotgun), cleaning, safe storage of firearms within the home, and benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, course completion certificate. Range Safety Officer (9 hours) $175 This course will teach Range Safety Officer (RSO) candidates the roles and responsibilities of an RSO. To include, but not limited to, Range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), range inspection, range briefings, firearm stoppages and malfunctions, and emergency procedures. Each Range Safety Officer Candidate will receive an RSO Student Study Guide, a Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, an NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, an Instructor Application/Course Evaluation form. This course is in the classroom only, no live fire. |
